About

Circo de Ideias is an architecture publisher, bookshop and gallery based in Porto, at Bairro da Bouça. Founded in 2008, as a nonprofit cultural organization, Circo de Ideias is committed to promote the dissemination and study of architecture.

Direction

Magda Seifert

Founder and director of Circo de Ideias, a cultural association where she coordinates, since 2008, several book editions, conferences and exhibition projects. Director of Porto Design Biennale and part of the esad—idea team, research in Design and Art. Architect graduated from the University School of Arts of Coimbra (2006). Between 2014 and 2016, she collaborated with the Canadian Center for Architecture Álvaro Siza’s archive transfer to this institution. In 2015-17, with Luís Tavares Pereira and Bruno Baldaia, she commissioned the 5th edition of Habitar Portugal. Between 2010 and 2014, she was part of the Ordem dos Arquitectos team, working directly with the board.

Pedro Baía

Founder and director of Circo de Ideias, a cultural association where he coordinates, since 2008, several book editions, conferences and exhibition projects. Integrated researcher at CEAU – Center for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism of Porto University. Architect graduated from the Architecture Department of Coimbra University (2005), where he presented in 2014 his doctoral thesis «From Broadcast to Reception: Reflections of Team 10 in the Portuguese Architectural Culture 1951-1981». Invited assistant professor at the Porto University School of Architecture and at the Architecture Department of Autonomous University of Lisbon.

Catarina Matos

Bachelor degree in Graphic Design (2018) and master degree in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects (2020) at Fine Arts School of Porto’s University, with the thesis «Três Meses de Porto Design Biennale», where she collaborated with the research center esad—idea.

Eduarda Silva

Currently finishing Master’s Degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), she was a member of the Students’ Association of the same university (AEFAUP). She took part in editorial projects, such as the MA magazine or the podcast «O Contrário é também é verdade».
