The exhibition «Forgotten Modern», curated by Pedro Baía and Magda Seifert, presents a selection of drawings from the author Pedro Figueiredo. The opening took place at Circo de Ideias architecture gallery on the 7th of November, Saturday, with the author’s presence.
All the drawings are available for purchase at our bookshop and online shop.
Pedro Figueiredo draws against oblivion, with an imprint strongly marked by the vibration and contradictions of a changing city.
His drawings result from a desire to travel the streets and alleys of the city of Porto, in a discovery in search of its spaces and buildings, with known authorship, others unknown and, often, forgotten.
Attentive to the constructive details and the texture of the materials, in search of the best perspective and the best framing angle, Pedro Figueiredo’s drawings take on color and form in a very specific narrative, marked by a critical and interventional look.
As an architect, he assumes the fascination for the most varied artistic and architectural languages: from art nouveau to art deco, from modern to brutalism, from pre-modern to post-modern, from anonymous to diffuse. These drawings are also a tribute to these languages, positions and architectural discourses.
