Pedro Baía (ed.)
This book, published by Circo de Ideias and edited by Pedro Baía, proposes a reflection on the impact of the 1980s on Portuguese architecture through the publication of the debate held in 2007 between the historian Paulo Varela Gomes and the architect Jorge Figueira at Clube Literário do Porto.
The editorial project was supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts.
From the Amoreiras project by Tomás Taveira to the reconstruction of Chiado by Álvaro Siza, the various architectures of the 1980s were debated in a critical balance around several issues left open. From the shame to the exaltation, from passivity to excitement, the feelings left by these colorful years are many and contradictory. In this debate, some clues were laid for the readings that remain to be done.
