Doctor Farnsworth’s House

Joana Couceiro, Mariana Rio

This book, published in english by Circo de Ideias, written by Joana Couceiro and illustrated by Mariana Rio, tells the story of Mies van der Rohe’s project for Edite Farnsworth, from the initial meeting between the architect and the doctor until their ultimate mismatch.

The book is part of the collection «Casas com nome», an editorial project that aims to bring together a set of exemplary houses from the 20th century revisited through a literary and imaginary dimension. Despite telling real stories, these books are inhabited by houses that take on a life of their own: houses that are machines, houses that are dreams, houses that are inside and houses that are outside. Houses that are people.

The editorial project was supported by the General Directorate for Book, Archives and Libraries.
