Dear friends,
In the past few months, we have experienced the multiple effects of an unexpected world pandemic. At Circo de Ideias, we have felt enormous support in the continuity of our project. Despite the drop in sales and visits, we managed to keep the doors open and continued to work with the same enthusiasm.
At the beginning of this pandemic, we thought of a way that would allow us to get in touch with our friends, with whom we have made books and collaborated on the most diverse projects. We wanted to know how they lived these days. So we asked them to write to us, giving us news.
We received and exchanged several letters, emails and phone calls. We then decided to publish some of these messages in a small book, with news from Montreal (Fabrizio Gallanti), Barcelona (Carolina B. Garcia-Estévez), Amsterdam (Dirk van den Heuvel), Bristol (Ben Highmore), Vila Nova de Gaia (Mariana Pestana) and São Paulo (Tuca Vieira).
We edited this book as a memory of the year 2020, with its readings and expectations. The book aims to be a tribute and a sign of resistance, hope and unity. We thought of a title that could inspire us: Letters for the Future.
