Ricardo Carvalho

Ricardo Carvalho is an architect and the founder of the studio Ricardo Carvalho Architects & Associates, based in Lisbon, Portugal. He has a degree in Architecture (FA 1995), and a holds a PhD (IST 2012), both from the University of Lisbon. His work has been presented in international exhibitions, such as “OVERLAPPPINGS. Six Portuguese Architecture Studios” in the Royal Institute of British Architects in London (2009); “Tradition is Innovation” in Ozone Design Center in Tokyo (2011); “Lisbon Ground” in the Venice Architecture Biennale (2012), “A Room for Mexico City” in Liga, Mexico City (2013) and “Haus Wittgenstein, Art, Architecture & Philosophy” at MAAT Museum, Lisbon (2018). Ricardo Carvalho is full professor of Architecture at Da/UAL Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, and was visiting professor at Universidad de Navarra, Spain, Carleton University, Canada and IUAV Venice, Italy. He has published books, articles and curated exhibitions. In 2015 and 2021 Ricardo Carvalho was nominated for the European Architecture Prize Mies van der Rohe European Award and in 2020 for the Swiss Architectural Prize.
